MISSION AND DEAN'S MESSAGE
Dear Prospective Students: Choosing the right J.D. program is a critically important decision and being well informed is the best way to make the right choice. So, on behalf of the faculty and staff of Irvine College of Law, we want to help you decide whether we are the right law school for you.
Irvine College of Law is a small and vibrant educational community that, since 1973, has had only one mission: To offer professionals, paraprofessionals, small business owners and those in public service and law enforcement a meaningful opportunity to join California’s legal profession as a licensed attorney. To help our students achieve that very worthy goal, Irvine College of Law now offers a rigorous, online curriculum designed to provide the legal knowledge and skills needed to pass the California Bar Examination. Our J.D. program is nearly identical to those of many, larger and better-known law schools. Given our small enrollment, however, our program offers a closer relationship between our students and their professors that combines the teaching skills of our dedicated faculty, all of whom are attorneys with years of experience, with the hard work and commitment of those willing and able to study law part-time while balancing the many demands of full-time employment, owning a business and the challenges of family and a personal life.
In 2022, Irvine College of Law was authorized by the State Bar of California to offer its J.D. program as a distance-learning law school. In doing so, Irvine College of Law’s entire curriculum has been thoroughly redesigned and strengthen by incorporating traditional real-time class sessions with the same state-of-the art online academic support resources, such as CALI (Center for Computer Assisted Legal Instruction), West Academic’s CasebookPlus and Adaptibar, used by larger, far more expensive, and better-known law schools throughout the U.S.
Irvine College of Law’s new academic year and curriculum have also be redesigned to accommodate the busy schedules and lives of working adults since all classes are scheduled on weekday evenings and on Saturdays, all taught using Zoom. When taught in small classes (many with fewer than 10 students), by a faculty dedicated to their students’ success, we truly believe that Irvine College of Law offers those admitted a better chance to succeed.
So, I hope you are interested in our new program and will attend an upcoming information session to learn more about what we believe is now among the best of California’s online, distance-learning law schools.
